Systems & Specialist Techniques
‘At Scholz we use a range of specialist techniques to achieve a wide range of architectural designs.'
Interlocking V25
With a sleek contemporary profile the interlocking system can be designed to create dramatic joints and vast clean looking facades. Suitable for wall cladding and soffit, the large tray widths and flexible express joins offer great creative potential for unique architectural ideas and features. This system's first application is to fix a galvanized channel to the existing wall, this creates an air space for insulation properties within the wall. Scholz Roofing has designed interlocking systems in all our specialist materials, from copper to Colorbond.
Flatlock Panel
Creating a flush facade with interlocking panels, Flatlock can run horizontally or vertically to create a stunning effect. Giving architects the flexibility of orientation and length, as well as deeper seam lines (using reversed flatlock), Flatlock is an extremely versatile cladding and roofing option. See the Shingle section below for more information on just how expressive Flatlock panels can be.
Batten Seam
With a history dating back hundreds of years, the batten seam system continues to be popular amongst historical and contemporary European-style projects. The raised seams make for striking architectural features that catch the sun and create deep shadows that draw the eye to the shape and flow of the roof or facade. Batten seams offer one of the most efficient installations, although there are few craftsmen in Australia with the extensive knowledge of this traditional European technique.
Shingles
Utilising the same profile as Flatlock, but with a noticeably eye-catching pattern, metal shingles can create the most unique and unusual facades and roofs. With each shingle folded into tessellating tile shapes, the facade typically evokes scales or diamond patterns. Our craftsmen can create a range of looks, working with you to design a tessellation that is both highly functional, and highly artistic. Commonly used for feature walls or architectural centrepieces, shingles can also provide one of the ultimate tests of a specialist's skill; wrapping around curves and organic shapes, flowing smoothly from walls to roofs to interior surfaces.
Double Standing Seam & Single Standing Seam
A double lock standing seam roof can elevate both traditional projects and modern architecture. This traditional European technique offers incomparable durability, impermeability to the elements and is the most structurally resistant standing seam roof system developed.
With the seams raised on metal panels running vertically, the panels are interconnected through folding and crimping, which means no screws or nails to compromise the integrity of the metal paneling. Double standing seams require minimal maintenance and provide extreme resistance to high winds and fire.
The discreet joints and flexibility of double lock standing seams make this application suitable for the most complex architectural projects.
